Igor Babushkin — Governor of Astrakhan Region
Born on April 5, 1970 in the village of Kamenniki, Rybinsk District, Yaroslavl Region.
Graduated from the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School named after the Supreme Council of the Russian Federation. Graduated from the Supreme Council of the Russian Federation, the Golitsyn Military Institute of the Federal Border Guard Service of the Russian Federation and the Institute of Management, Economics and Innovation.
From 1992 to 2012, he served in command positions in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and units of the Federal Security Service of Russia.
From 2013 to 2018, he was deputy head of the Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo).
In accordance with the order of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation of September 25, 2018, he was appointed Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasian Federal District.
On June 5, 2019, by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, he was appointed Acting Governor of the Astrakhan region.
On September 8, 2019, 75.63 percent of voters voted for I.Y. Babushkin in the elections of the Governor of Astrakhan Oblast.
On September 17, 2019, he took office as Governor of Astrakhan Oblast.
