Mikhail Komissar — General Director, Interfax Information Services Group
Founder, Chairman of the Board and CEO
Interfax International Information Group
In 1989 M.Komissar created Interfax, the country's first independent news agency, which formed new standards for the high quality journalism in Russia.
Along with the new market economy, Interfax started to develop professional services for the financial market and the key segments of the economy – fuel and energy, metallurgy and telecommunications.
In 1990s Interfax, led by M.Komissar, became the country’s largest information group and developed extensive network in the Russian federal districts, in former Soviet Union and abroad as well as forging partnerships with global companies like Dun & Bradstreet, Experian and Moody’s.
Interfax has demonstrated a unique ability to anticipate the trends and needs of the information market in advance and to find adequate responses to the challenges of the digital revolution. This encouraged a shift in its business strategy to the creation of state-of-the art business information solutions rather than traditional news services.
In 2019 Interfax сelebrated its 30th anniversary.
