Mikhail Strikhanov — Rector, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute)
Mikhail Strikhanov was born on July 18, 1952 in Krasnodar.

He graduated from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute with honors degree in “Theoretical nuclear physics” in 1974. 1974-1997 – worked in MEPhI. Intern researcher, assistant, senior lecturer, Associate Professor, Professor. 1997-1998 – Vice-rector of MEPhI. 1998-2003 – Head of the Department of scientific researches development and planning at the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. 2003-2004 – Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation. 2004-2007 – Deputy Director of Department at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. 2007 – elected as rector of MEPhI. 2010 – re-elected as rector of MEPhI. 2014 – recommended by the Supervisory Board of MEPhI and appointed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation as rector of MEPhI.

2007 – MEPhI became one of the winners of the competition among institutions implementing innovative educational programs (competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation). 2008 – the University received the title of “National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI” (NRNU MEPhI)”. 2013 – MEPhI was among 15 winners of the competition to increase international competitiveness of leading Russian universities among major global scientific and educational centres (competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation).
