Participants in the expert discussion "From Forecast to Reality: What to Expect in a Changing World" held on the second day of Gaidar Forum discussed new competencies and ability to adapt in a complex and unpredictable time. The discussion was a follow-up to the topic "Out of the Fog with the Help of Futurologists". The speakers answered the questions futurologists now face and talked about artificial intelligence, priority development areas and new requirements of employers.
Among the participants in the event were Alexander Auzan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Vsevolod Belousov, Acting Director of the Federal Center of Brain Research and Neurotechnologies at FMBA of Russia, Kirill Komarov, First Deputy CEO of Rosatom, Alexey Komissarov, Vice Rector at RANEPA and CEO of “Russia as a Country of Opportunities”. Andrey Sharonov, President of the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, acted as moderator.
Alexander Auzan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Lomonosov Moscow State University, talked about the relation and difference between digital immortality and data collection. "The greatest challenge right now is the protection of personal data. If you give your personal data to the state, you get digital totalitarianism," he said. Also supporting the discourse on the impact of artificial intelligence on people's lives, the speaker talked about the substitution of traditional institutions with digital platforms and digital ecosystems.
Alexey Komissarov, Vice Rector at RANEPA and CEO of “Russia as a Country of Opportunities”, focused on the development of artificial intelligence in society. "Anything related to artificial intelligence has the potential to improve various areas of human activity. I am amazed by the demand for artificial intelligence in public administration. Of course, it is a total substitute for the work of humans, but it will help perform some functions," the expert believes.
Vsevolod Belousov, Acting Director of the Federal Center of Brain Research and Neurotechnologies at FMBA of Russia, told all those present about the outlooks for life prolongation "First of all, it is necessary to provide more social and psychological support to people. Secondly, research into treatments for dangerous diseases should be supported. It is also necessary to form a trend for a healthy lifestyle at the state level, as it was with smoking," he said. According to Mr Belousov, as for radical life prolongation, , scientists are yet unable to achieve the goal, but they are working on it.
Kirill Komarov, First Deputy CEO of Rosatom, said that the company now has a trend towards environmental friendliness. "We always have two points of reference: the technological skill and the opportunity to improve people's quality of life. We are proud that nuclear power plants in Russia have broken the record of nuclear power plants in the USSR, because it is nuclear power that leaves a smaller ecological footprint," he said. The expert also referred to trainability and adaptability as the most in-demand competencies of employees.

The Forum will traditionally open the annual business agenda of Russia. In 2021, this large-scale event will be held in a hybrid format, both online and offline.
